Cambodia Gambling Dens
There is a fascinating history to the Cambodia gambling dens that lie just across the border from neighboring Thailand, in which casino betting is banned. Eight gambling dens are based in a generally small location in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia gambling dens is in a prime area, a three to 4 hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest wagering centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai laborers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The amazing income accrued from the casinos ranges from 7.5 million dollars to over 12.5 million, and there are a number of limitations requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mostly Thai; still, funding sources are ambiguous. The borders are formally open from 0900 to 17:00, and even though visas are supposedly needed to pass, there are ways around this, as is correct of most border crossings.
The 1st Cambodia gambling halls opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in 1998, leaving just 1 casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored barge casino, highlights 150 slot machine games and sixty gaming tables. The Naga casino is open all day and night with 42 tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, four tables of vingt-et-un, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The first casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown quickly followed. A total of 150 slots and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four one armed bandits and 68 tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights three hundred one armed bandits and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 one armed bandits and ninety six gaming tables, including 87 baccarat banque (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machine games and 66 of the common gaming tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 gambling dens in Poipet, again in a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slots and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an international resort and hotel compound that features a number of comforts in addition to the casino, which houses ten thousand sq.ft. of 130 slots and eighty eight gaming tables.
