Cambodia Gambling Halls
There is an interesting story to the Cambodia casinos that reside just over the dividing line from neighboring Thailand, where casino gaming is not permitted. Eight casinos are based in a generally tiny location in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia gambling halls is in an excellent location, a 3 to four hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 most popular betting locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai blue-collar workers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The astonishing income accrued from the gambling halls ranges from $7.5 million to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a few restrictions constraints for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mostly Thai; still, financing sources are vague. The borders are officially open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and despite the fact visas are for all intents and purposes needed to cross, there are means around this, as is correct of most border crossings.
The original Cambodia casinos opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving just a single gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked ship gambling hall, contains one hundred and fifty slot machines and sixty tables. The Naga casino is open all hours with forty two tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, 4 tables of chemin de fer, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The initial gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown quickly followed. There are 150 slots and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machines and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features 300 slot machine games and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slots and 96 table games, including 87 punto banco (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machines and sixty six of the normal tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 gambling halls in Poipet, again a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 one armed bandits and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a comprehensive vacation and hotel compound that contains numerous comforts aside from the gambling den, which offers ten thousand sq.ft. of 130 slots and 88 tables.
